📚No prior experience required and for this special occasion, we'll open our workshop to boys from 8 to 12 years old.

In this workshop, your child combines their passion for animals and game development to create a Zookeeper’s Adventure. The block-based coding experience guides your child through basic storytelling design actions for games, including movement, randomness, positioning, and the creation and destruction of elements.

🦁🦜🦒In this set of activities, students use the power of coding to help manage a zoo. Beginner-friendly with enough of a challenge for more advanced coders. The step-by-step instructions focus on projects that involve movement and interaction.

🧑🏾‍💻Learning Objectives: As students go through a zookeeper’s adventure, they create their zookeeper sprite, design exhibits, and take care of animals. Throughout these experiences, they will use computer science and game design concepts.

📚No prior experience required and for this special occasion, we’ll open our workshop to boys from 8 to 12 years old.

This is a unique opportunity to learn basic and advanced HTML and CSS techniques while creating your own interactive Pokédex of original creatures. Learn how to use HTML tags to create the structure of a web page and how to use CSS to style it.

🦾Our focus is to introduce students to HTML and CSS and inspire them to continue learning and exploring the exciting world of coding. As part of this workshop, we will be building a Pokédex of original creatures that represent our Black Pride. One such creature is Creativeflow, a water/psychic-type creature that embodies creativity, with fluid and graceful movements that symbolize its imaginative spirit.

    👋🏾 Hey, Black Boys Code community! We've got 👋🏾 Hey, Black Boys Code community! We've got some exciting events coming up that we don't want you to miss. It’s time to get registered before space runs out!

👨🏾‍💻 EVENT 1: "Learning Math Through Code" - April 19, 2023 to May 31, 2023 (every Wednesday from 5 – 7 pm your local time). In this 10-week online afterschool program, participants will explore the world of computer science and coding while learning math through code. This program is open to Black boys aged 10-14 who want to build their confidence, problem-solving skills, and digital literacy. Whether your son participated in our summer camp program or not, this is the perfect opportunity to take his coding skills to the next level.

👨🏾‍💻 EVENT 2: "Defend Your Galaxy With Make Code!" - April 22 and 29, 2023 (Saturdays). Join us for our "Coders, Defend Your Galaxy With Make Code!" workshop for boys aged 8 to 12. Hosted by Black Boys Code and featuring Microsoft's MakeCode Design a Space Explore Workshop, this two-part workshop will teach participants beginner to intermediate game development concepts. Participants will create a space fighter game using coding skills to defend the galaxy.

    🚀 Mae Carol Jemison is a trailblazing Black wom 🚀 Mae Carol Jemison is a trailblazing Black woman who has broken barriers and inspired countless people to pursue their dreams. She was born on October 17, 1956, in Decatur, Alabama, and grew up in Chicago, where her interest in science and space exploration first took root. As a young girl, Jemison was fascinated by the night sky and dreamed of one day becoming an astronaut.

👩🏾‍🚀 Jemison's dream became a reality in 1992 when she became the first African American woman to travel to space. As a physician, engineer, astronaut, and educator, Jemison has accomplished so much throughout her career. She has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to science and society, including induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame, the National Academy of Medicine, and the International Space Hall of Fame.

👩🏾‍🔬 In addition to her impressive list of achievements, Jemison is also a fierce advocate for science education and diversity in STEM fields. She believes that everyone should have the opportunity to explore their interests and pursue their passions, regardless of their background or circumstances. Jemison has worked tirelessly to inspire a new generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers, especially those from underrepresented communities.

🌟 By sharing her story and breaking down barriers, Mae Carol Jemison has become a role model and icon for people all over the world. She has shown that with hard work, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose, anything is possible. Jemison continues to inspire and empower others to follow in her footsteps and make their own mark on the world.

    🚀 Aprille Ericsson-Jackson is a pioneering Blac 🚀 Aprille Ericsson-Jackson is a pioneering Black woman who has broken down barriers and shattered stereotypes in the field of aerospace engineering. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ericsson-Jackson developed a passion for science and engineering from a young age. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before going on to become the first female African American to receive a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Howard University.

👩🏾‍🔬 As an aerospace engineer at NASA, Ericsson-Jackson has made significant contributions to the field of space exploration. She has also dedicated herself to promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM fields, serving as a mentor to young people, especially young women and minorities. She has worked tirelessly to increase awareness of the contributions that Black women have made to science and engineering and has been recognized with numerous awards and honors for her work, including the Black Engineer of the Year Award, the Women in Science and Engineering Award, and the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal.

💪🏾 Ericsson-Jackson's work and advocacy have inspired countless people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. She has shown that with determination, hard work, and a commitment to making a difference, anyone can achieve their dreams. She is a role model and trailblazer for Black women and girls everywhere.

🌟 By breaking down barriers and promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM fields, Aprille Ericsson-Jackson has made a lasting impact on the world. She has shown that the sky is not the limit and that Black women have an important place in science and engineering. Her work and dedication continue to inspire and empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers.
