Who We Are
Black Boys Code is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering Black youth to explore the limitless possibilities in STEM. By providing mentorship, industry exposure, and technical training, we aim to develop the next generation of innovators and creators in the digital age.
We believe education is the key to unlocking the potential of Black youth, enabling Black youth to become future leaders and powerful voices of change. Our curriculum, resources, and mentorship equip young minds with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in the digital age and beyond.
About the Role As the Chapter Leader for the Brampton chapter you will spearhead Black Boys Code initiatives in the Peel region. You will oversee a team of volunteers to deliver impactful programming, play a critical role in building community relationships, expanding awareness of our programs, and ensure the success and sustainability of the chapter.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to deliver high-quality programming in the Peel region.
- Onboard and mentor core team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and refine educational materials as needed.
- Track chapter performance through surveys, feedback, and other evaluation tools.
- Collaborate with the Operations/Program Manager to set chapter goals and strategies.
- Community Outreach
- Build relationships with community organizations, schools, and local leaders to promote Black Boys Code.
- Conduct presentations and town halls to increase awareness and boost program participation.
- Establish partnerships with local organizations and identify potential donors and sponsors.
- Volunteer Management
- Match volunteers with roles that align with their skills and interests.
- Provide comprehensive onboarding and training for volunteers.
- Foster long-term engagement by maintaining open communication and addressing concerns.
- Program Development
- Organize and execute workshops, events, and activities tailored to community needs.
- Identify and secure suitable venues and resources for programming.
- Evaluate programming effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance impact.
- Data and Reporting
- Prepare regular reports on volunteer activities, program achievements, and impact metrics.
- Use data insights to assess programming success and inform future initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
- Increase awareness of Black Boys Code programs within Brampton and the Peel region.
- Build and retain a dedicated core team of volunteers.
- Successfully plan and execute successful chapter events and workshops.
- Form strategic partnerships with schools, organizations, and businesses.
- Measure impact through participation rates, feedback, and community engagement metrics.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in people and project management.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a technology-related role.
- Strong community presence with an established network of contacts.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with volunteer management best practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Passion for empowering youth and engaging with communities.
Must pass a Vulnerable Sector background check.
Other Details
Location: Hybrid role; Candidates must be based in Brampton and available for regular on-site activities.
Schedule: Flexible, with evening and weekend work required for events and workshops.

- Number of successful chapter events organized.
- Volunteer recruitment, training, and retention rates.
- Effectiveness and reach of community outreach activities.
- Engagement and participation levels in programs and workshops.
- Number of strategic partnerships established.
- Impact assessment based on participant feedback and success stories.
Other things you should know about this role
•Minimum 5-6 hours per week (More time may be required during ramp-up/on boarding period)
•A monthly honorarium will be paid as an appreciation for your time donated.
