Black Boys Code Halifax Presents:
Learn to Program with Scratch
Have you ever thought about what’s behind the games you play, the applications you use and the websites you browse? Have you ever wondered how all the images and buttons get there and they all seem to work seamlessly?
In our continued effort to get boys engaged with technology and to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow, we will be hosting a series of workshops, introducing them to the foundations of modern computer science.
This workshop is designed for boys age 8-12 . The workshop is designed to encourage student-driven learning as participants are nudged towards thinking analytically while they explore, design, play and code in real-time.
No prior programming experience is required!
At the end of this workshop, participants will have animated a name and a created a story using Scratch, a block-based visual programming language.
The following topics will have been explored: Events, Sequencing, Loops, Conditions, Debugging, Block coding, Syntax, Word animation, Figure animation, Iteration.
At Black Boys Code our aim is to cultivate our students’ technological capacities and stimulate their interest in challenging and rewarding fields related to computer programming.
