Appventure – Hands on App Development

Come join us for an exciting in-person workshop designed just for boys aged 8-17! Whether they’re brand new to coding or eager to level up

This practical program sets participants on a journey to master app creation through engaging projects tailored to their experience levels. Beginners will work on developing a Hide and Seek game, while advanced learners will continue progressing in their long-term Machine Learning projects. This workshop aims to build applications of growing complexity, utilizing Python’s versatile capabilities.

Concepts Covered

Beginner Path (Hide and Seek Game)

  • Data Types and Variables: Define game elements and user interactions.
  • Conditional Statements: Create game logic for hiding and finding objects.
  • Functions: Organize code with reusable functions for game functionalities.

Advanced Path (Long-term Machine Learning Project)

  • Advanced learners will continue working on their long-term Machine Learning projects, applying new skills and refining their models.
Materials Required

Computing Devices: Students will need access to a computer or laptop with Python installed and capable of connecting to online resources

Learning Resources: Educational materials and documentation will be provided digitally, accessible through platforms like Moodle.

GitHub Codespaces: This cloud-based IDE will be the primary environment for writing, running, and sharing code, ensuring efficient collaboration.

Replit: An online coding platform that will be used instead of Figma, to write, run, and collaborate on code snippets and applications right from the browser, with support for web development and live previews
