Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are aware that the outbreak and spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) can raise questions and even concerns. Rest assured that Black Boys Code is taking all necessary precautions and is closely monitoring the situation. The health and safety of your family, our staff and volunteers are always our top priority.

As per recommendations provided to us directly by Health Canada; the WHO and the (CDC) we request that you do not bring your boy(s) to a workshop if your child:

  • have a fever,
  • cough, flu-like symptoms
  • have recently travelled outside of Canada

If you do miss a workshop, don’t worry, we will be hosting monthly workshops in cities where we have chapters and your child will have many opportunities to participate in this unique learning experience.

As a precaution, due to the global impact and unpredictability of this developing situation, additional restrictions may be enforced. We encourage everyone evaluate their own situation and make the decision that is best for them regarding any upcoming Black Boys Code events. Please follow everyday preventive actions as recommended by Health Canada and the CDC to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Rest assured that at our Black Boys Code workshops we’re taking steps to ensure safe hygiene practices and critical measures for public health are in place at, including:

  • Placing hand sanitizer at various locations throughout our events.
  • Posting signage at events to promote proper hygiene practices.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Communicating with our volunteers regarding steps we can all take at our workshops to promote appropriate hygiene practices.

Rest assured Black Boys Code will continue to monitor the current situation and will implement additional precautions if necessary.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our boys to experience the world of technology.
