MENTOR PROFILE
Programs Manager, Black Boys Code Canada
Afam Achebe brings over 10 years of experience working at the intersection of operations, data, and youth development. As Programs Manager for Black Boys Code’s Canada Operations, he oversees chapter operations and program delivery from coast to coast — and regularly shows up as a mentor in the workshops themselves.
With a background in economics, finance, and project management, Afam designs and facilitates hands-on learning experiences in coding, technology, and problem-solving, creating spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and capable of more. His approach is guided by a simple philosophy: service, structure, and impact — because good intentions only go as far as the systems that support them.
MENTOR PROFILE
Program Lead, Black Boys Code USA & Black Kids Code (Girls); Edmonton Chapter Leader
Mike Manasseh is a connector, builder, and problem-solver with a deep commitment to expanding opportunity for young people. As Program Lead for Black Boys Code’s USA Operations and Black Kids Code (Girls), Mike oversees chapter operations across both programs while actively working to grow Black Boys Code’s footprint across the United States. He also leads the Edmonton chapter, bringing the same hands-on energy locally that he brings to the broader organization.
Outside of Black Boys Code, Mike runs Manasseh Software Inc., an IT consulting firm where he helps small businesses modernize their operations — cutting costs, streamlining workflows, and driving measurable growth. That same results-oriented mindset carries into his work with youth: building the kind of structure and reach that turns a good program into a lasting one.
Mike believes in lifelong learning and leads by example — always going the extra mile to make things better for the communities and young people he serves.
